July is national lost pets prevention month. So here we are on National Prevention of Lost Pets Month, to give you some easy ways to prevent lost pets. 1. Microchip Your Pet-

Thanks to the wonders of technology, pet parents can microchip their pets. They were even able to reunite with their lost dogs.  This is possible because if your pet ends up being lost and loses the collar the vet can scan the chip. It has all the details like your contact information and  primary vet information.                     Dont worry about the process of getting a microchip is completely painless for your dog. The dog won't know it's there. Its size is only about a grain of rice. A vet will inject it under the dog's skin and will stay there for the entire dog's life. It even helps you legally prove that the dog is yours which is important if someone claims it to be there's.


2.  A collar with Dog ID Tags-  

 This is something that sounds too basic but it is really important. More than 11% of pets lost had no identification tags. So remember to have the Dog ID tags with your dog's collar. Make sure it fits the dog and the loose collar can fall off.        Many times due to wearing the collar for long it becomes loose or gets torn up. So it's important to keep a check. Also, make sure it's not too tight that it will choke your dog.

Pet Proofing your home means making sure all the doors are securely latched not pulled. It is ensuring all the windows are shut properly and completely.

During this time it's important to have a checklist for safe travels.  So this includes making visits of keeping pets in crates intended for travel. Don't keep them in a basket that can easily open.
